Strategic Growth Instead of Growth at Any Cost

How we grow deliberately in Romania and build strong partnerships

The Romanian logistics market is dynamic, price-sensitive, and often driven by short-term decisions. We have consciously chosen a different path: our Romanian subsidiary, NOSTA Logistics S.R.L., manages its business by carefully selecting projects and focusing on stable, predictable operations.
Long-term customer relationships are a key part of this approach—but not the sole objective. In this blog post, we explain how we strategically shape our activities in Romania.

A Market Between Speed and Expectations
“Romania is a market where decisions often need to be made quickly and price plays a major role,” says Szilard Sarkozi, Managing Director of NOSTA Logistics S.R.L. At the same time, expectations around quality, reliability, and transparency are continuously increasing.
We operate in an environment that demands both speed and substance. Our approach is to manage this tension strategically rather than simply reacting to it.

Managing Growth Means Making Deliberate Choices
A key part of how we work is the deliberate selection of projects. We carefully assess whether a request aligns with our requirements and quality standards. In practice, it quickly becomes clear that not every opportunity is sustainable.

When pricing expectations, timelines, and operational realities don’t align, risks arise that are difficult to mitigate later on.
Typical warning signs include extremely short decision timelines, a strong focus on the lowest price, or conditions that leave little room for proper execution.
“We make very conscious decisions about which projects we take on. If the foundation isn’t right, even the best operations team can’t deliver a stable solution,” says Sarkozi.
In such cases, we either step away or develop alternative proposals. That’s not always the easiest path, but it’s a necessary one when building a sustainable business.

From Individual Orders to a Functioning System
Our goal is not to handle as many individual shipments as possible, but to build a system that works. This includes having predictable processes, clearly defined responsibilities, and the ability to make quick decisions.
Customer relationships play an important role in this system. We see them as part of it. When communication is clear and challenges are handled effectively, trust develops almost naturally.
“Long-term collaboration is the result of strong operational performance,” says Sarkozi. Many of our current partnerships started with individual shipments and gradually developed into stable collaborations.

Taking Responsibility in Day-to-Day Operations
A critical factor in our approach is taking responsibility beyond simply organizing a shipment. We plan realistically and address openly when expectations need to be adjusted.

As a result, transparency is a key priority—especially when things don’t go as planned.
“In logistics, things don’t always run smoothly. What matters is identifying issues early and addressing them openly,” says Sarkozi. This mindset shapes not only our internal processes but also how we work with our customers.

Structures That Enable Fast and Clear Decisions
For this approach to work in practice, well-defined structures are essential. We have clearly assigned responsibilities across sales, operations, and management, enabling fast decision-making without compromising quality.

Our team in Romania currently consists of 10 colleagues based in Cluj and Bucharest.
“What matters to us is that every team member is able to understand complex situations and make independent decisions,” says Sarkozi. A high level of expertise across the team is therefore a key factor in successfully executing even complex projects.

Stability Instead of Short-Term Gains
This approach results in a business that is less dependent on short-term fluctuations. Rather than constantly chasing new business, we build on a stable foundation of reliable processes and strong partnerships.
Customer relationships grow within this model because day-to-day collaboration works.

“We don’t grow by maximizing the number of new contacts, but through strong collaboration,” says Sarkozi.
This approach will remain central going forward. We aim to further develop our business in Romania through a deliberately managed customer portfolio, stable margins, and predictable processes. At the same time, we see potential in expanding more advanced logistics solutions as well as further developing our air and ocean freight activities.

Our Approach: Stability Through Clear Decisions
We view our business in Romania as a deliberately managed system—not a volume-driven model.

“We carefully select projects, establish clear structures, and take responsibility in execution,” Sarkozi summarizes. Long-term customer relationships are not an end in themselves, but the result of efficient processes and reliable collaboration.
